Andrei Mikhailovich Postnikov had a status of merchant since 1865; since 1872 becomes a Hereditary Honorary citizen of Moscow; from 1874 to 1881 the GLASNY (deputy of city council with a voting voice) of the Moscow City Duma. In 1868 he founded the famous factory for manufacturing of golden, silver, bronze, zinc and iron products. (Tver’ Outpost; his father was engaged in the sale of Church products since 1825). In 1870 the factory was composed of the following workshops: the modeling shop, the casting shop (foundry), the forging shop, the “special casting” shop and Fake Gems Division and a special jewelers’ school for 47 people. In the 1870s – early 1880s produce of this factory was profitably sold both in Russia and abroad. The firm since 1877 had a status of the Supplier of the Russian Imperial Court; of the courts of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich and Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna and the Royal Court of England. The Company was a participant of all-Russian and world exhibitions of art and industrial goods: 1870, St.Petersburg - bronze medal; 1873, Vienna; 1885, Antwerp – honorary diploma; 1876, Philadelphia. The stores of the company offered “a large selection of silver: priests’ clothes, covers for icons, Church utensils, folding icons, dishes, albums, pads, vases, clocks, mugs, cups and full table sets”. The firm was famous for its enamel and scan’ (filigree) works. It participated in decoration of the Church of the Savior on Blood in St.Petersburg. The company existed until 1917.
At the exhibition of 1882 the Postnikov Company received golden medal of the all-Russian industrial and art exhibition in Moscow for silverware.
In 1873, at the world exhibition in Vienna, A.Postnikov received the honorary status of the Court Manufacturer of Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna, Queen of Württemberg.
In 1879 he received permission to be called The Court Manufacturer of the Imperial Family.
Postnikov was a founder of the Moscow Technical Society (1869) and Technical School for Free Education (1872).
