The traditional trend of the old believers' art consists of carved wooden icons depicting the cross of Calvary, symbolizing the atoning sacrifice of Christ. Usually the cross is placed on the background of the Jerusalem temple or the Jerusalem walls, a variety of cryptograms are placed around the cross, in which are encrypted the first letters of each word of a prayer and names of sacred objects. The absence of the Crucifixion on the cross allowed to use such icons not just in the chapels, houses, shrines, but also to post them even on the trunks of trees and polls along the roads, doors of huts and farm buildings and at gates. Often they served as gravestone icons that were inserted into a carved wooden tombstones (goloubets), crowned with a gable roof. "This ancient form of tombstones remained at Vygovsky cemeteries, where tombstones were installed on tall wooden pillars, and inside kiots, were placed wooden or brass icon and the lamps...".
In the center of presented icon is an eight-pointed cross installed on mount Calvary with Adam's head in the bowels, on the sides of the cross are spear and a cane. The image of the Jerusalem wall is used as a background.
