Burin

This tool is a truncation burin with oblique retouching made on a large blade with a crust. The burin was commonly used for bone and woodwork. Like modern cutting tools, it has a sharp edge that is used to create grooves in hard materials or cut soft materials such as hides and leather. The burin could also be used as a knife, and the edge of the plate was often sharpened. For convenience, the tool could be mounted into a bone or wooden handle. The functional purpose of this tool was to create grooves and shape objects made from organic materials such as bone, tusks, wood, and hides. This type of tool is commonly found at sites from the Upper Paleolithic period in Eurasia.
