Awl

This is a small massive tool made from a horn of the hoofed animal. The handle has been slightly processed, with the end being crumbled and damaged in ancient times. The working end has traces of use and is artificially sharpened. Most likely, this awl was used to pierce skins, probably thick ones, judging by the heavy handle and short working part of the awl, or making grooves in soft material. Functional purpose: a tool for creating holes in soft materials. This is a rare find from the Upper Paleolithic period in Eurasia, as horn is rarely preserved in the cultural deposits at most sites.
