The oar was discovered at an ancient settlement located on the shores of a shallow lake, almost on the shore line. It may have been left by the owner. The oar was found among numerous fragments of wood and various household items in some way related to fishing (broken oars, tripwires for nets, wooden scoops, floats made of pine and birch bark for fishing nets, lost bone harpoons and hooks, broken clay vessels). The peculiarity of this oar is that it was found intact (in the showcase could be seen only its upper part), and also its blade, in comparison to other oars from the same time is wider.
Functional purpose: rowing (with one oar) in a large dugout or small frame boat when moving on a shallow, swampy lake.
Notice of uniqueness: at the moment, about 100 oars and their fragments from the end of the Stone Age and the beginning of the Bronze Age have been found in the Middle TRANS-Urals.
